Allstarzz Off To Hit Cricket World For 6!

The International Allstarzz head off to Hong Kong for 10 days later this month for The Cathay Pacific/Standard Chartered Hong Kong Cricket Sixes.

Its reputation for welcoming world cricket’s biggest names has received a huge boost, with superstars Shane Warne and Brian Lara joining the events first cricket All-Star Team later this month, ensuring 2 great Allstarzz teams for the crowd to enjoy!

Hong Kong’s annual carnival of elite cricket, first played in 1992 and famed for its frenetic pace and high-scoring action, returns to Kowloon Cricket Club from October 27-28.

The 38-year-old Warne, one of the most dynamic players of the games modern era and Test crickets leading wicket taker with 708 scalps, will skipper the All-Stars in his first Sixes visit. His highly regarded captaincy skills will ideally complement his power hitting and famed leg-spin bowling in crickets most action-packed format.

Lara reclaimed Test crickets highest score mark in 2004, again against England in Antigua, when he flayed 400 not out to wrest the record back from Matthew Hayden of Australia.

Joining Test crickets most prolific duo on the All-Stars are Indians Anil Kumble and Virender Sehwag, Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi (pictured above) and Zimbabwean Heath Streak. At least one more player will be added to the team in the coming weeks.

Said Warne (pictured, above): “I am thrilled to be taking part in the Cathay Pacific/Standard Chartered Hong Kong Cricket Sixes for the first time. Hong Kong is an amazing city and with players like Brian, Virender and Shahid in our team, I am very confident we will be able to give the other teams a real run for the Sixes crown.

“I have heard so much about the event from some of the great players that have been here over the years, so to come and play myself is very exciting,” he said.

Added Lara: “Although I first came to Hong Kong for the Sixes many years ago, I still remember what a thrilling tournament it was. The small ground makes this format of the game a treat for both players and spectators.

“No other ground in the world allows cricket fans to be as close to the action as they are in Hong Kong, which with the names we have on our team this year makes it incredibly exciting for both players and spectators,” he said.

The event promises to be an occasion like no other with The Allstarzz adding their own touch of Sporting Class.

Kukri Allstarzz shine at Worcester !

Saturday saw the International Kukri Allstarzz return to Premiership Rugby as Worcester took on Wasps at Six ways In what turned out to be a thrilling opening home fixture.

Following on from their appearances on Sky News the previous day, The Kukri Allstarzz showed just what the Premiership has been missing with their pre match and half time performances, mixed around their community development role as ambassadors for the club.

The game itself was a real spectacle:

With Warriors staging a stunning fight-back to claim a sensational draw and first points of the Guinness Premiership campaign against European champions London Wasps.

The home side seemed destined for defeat as they trailed 24-10 to the top side in Europe with time running out.

But Mike Ruddock's team produced a breathtaking comeback as tries from Kai Horstmann and Dom Feaunati and the ice-cool kicking of Shane Drahm saw they claim two points.

Warriors started the game in brilliant fashion with wing Marcel Garvey bursting over after less than three minutes after some fine individual work on the right flank.

Wasps hit back with tries from Pat Barnard and James Haskell plus the trusty boot of Dave Walder seeing them into what looked a comfortable lead.

However, back came the hosts and a tense finale even saw Walder screw a last minute drop goal wide as the spoils were shared.

Allstarzz to set World Cricket in Hong Kong Alight.

A team of ten Allstarzz will be heading off to perform at the World Cricket 6's in Hong Kong at the end of October!

This is another huge event and again shows the international reputation we have as the best around!

I look forward to selecting a team worthy of such an event.

Allstarzz take on the Government!

The Kukri International Allstarzz played their part in taking on the government today when the girls performed at the Talksport Celebrity teams game against an MP's select squad at Hatfields, London. talkSPORT, the UK's only national commercial radio station, assembled an all-star football team to take on a Secretary of State and a Cabinet Minister in a charity five-a-side football match.

James Purnell MP, The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and Gerry Sutcliffe MP, Minister for Sport, lead The All-party Parliamentary Football team in the match. It was the first time that the two sides had met and proved a compelling contest, as talkSPORT's team consisted of station presenters including ex-internationals Alan Brazil, Ray Houghton and Gary Stevens. In comparison, the Parliamentary team was made up of stalwarts of modern democracy who are more used to scoring political points from the dispatch box than scoring winners from inside the six-yard box.

What seemed like a mismatch on paper was a far closer contest; while some of the presenters had long since hung up their boots, the Parliamentary team met and trained throughout the year and were relishing the opportunity to put the ex-pros through their paces; an upset could have well been on the cards. But not so .... A 5 - 4 victory was the outcome with Ex England and World Cup star Gary Stevens netting a hat-trick! Our Allstarzz dazzeled the crowd whilst the whole event raised proceeds all going in aid of the Albany Charity Fund, a London based taxi cab charity for children with special needs.

The International have become Premieship rugby giants Worcester RFU's latest big name signing for season 07/08. They are not the only big name joining the midland giants.

Worcester Warriors have also swooped to sign Samoa international Loki Crichton. The 31-year-old international has signed a two-year deal that will keep him at Sixways until at least 2009.

The dynamic and versatile back, equally comfortable at full back or fly half, has played for the Chiefs in the Super 14 competition and Waikato in the Air New Zealand Cup. He also recently enjoyed a successful spell at Guinness Premiership side Newcastle Falcons.

Crichton has also impressed on the international stage since making his Samoa debut in 2006, during the inaugural Pacific Five Nations tournament. He was named in the Pacific Islanders touring squad in 2006 and is currently in action in the iRB Pacific Nations Cup for Samoa .

“Loki is a very talented international player and as such he will bring a huge amount of experience to the Warriors,” said Director of Rugby Mike Ruddock. “He can play in more than one position and with a demanding season ahead of us he will give us lots of selection options. Loki has a good all-round game with tackling and passing of the highest quality.

“When he played against the Warriors last season he got his back line working very well, particularly in the first half when Newcastle had the ball. Thankfully the Warriors turned the game around in the second half and starved Newcastle of possession. However, Loki showed on that day what he was capable of when given the platform.”

Crichton, who joins Sam Tuitupou, Greg Rawlinson and Sean Ruwers as the new arrivals at Sixways, added: “ I'm delighted to sign and I'm already looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and joining the Warriors family.

Allstarzz and Aussies winners again …

The International Allstarzz made their way from Manchester 's MEN Arena and Birmingham 's NIA for the final leg of their GB International Netball series.

Over 8000 fans turned up to watch England take on Australia in the decider of the series at Earls Court London .

Buoyed by their amazing victory over world champions New Zealand , England looked positive and more than up for the challenge, with Cookey and Brownfield maintaining the form of Sunday's win in the shooting circle. Jade Clarke was once again England 's lynchpin in centre court. Their defense and pace in the first quarter saw them take the lead 12-9.

The Kukri Allstarzz kept the atmosphere alive during the breaks, then in the second quarter Australia came out fighting and pulled back the score. But England dug deep to level at half time 22-22.

Half time saw the Allstarzz get the crowd on their feet with an amazing show that set up the atmosphere for the second half.

The third quarter was all about Australia, with Aussie GA and vice captain Sharelle McMahon and GS Catherine Cox frequently leaving the English defence chasing skirts with their speedy interplay round the goal. Australia led 35-29 in the third and despite a spirited English fight back in the final quarter, the opportunity for a second famous victory in a week for the home side team was gone. The final score 40-47.

A spectacular, very physical game where England can take heart from their performance. They can now look to the World Championships in New Zealand in less than six months with confidence knowing they beat the World Champions and more than held their own against the world number 2 side.

So Australia take the International Tri-Series trophy, England finish second with New Zealand third. Player of the match was Australian GD Mo'onia Gerrard.

Earlier in the evening, England A posed several questions of World Champions New Zealand, before the Silver Ferns eventually edged through for a 66-42 win.

The International Allstarzz move on to take their place at the Annual Celebrity Soccer six this weekend, at Upton Park Stadium.

Two of the kits in hot demand are the strips in the colors of Chelsea and Manchester United, modeled here by Aussie Socceroo's fanatic & International Allstar Michelle & her Allstar team mate, Claire.

Whoever you support in football, the event looks set to have the crowds flooding in.

One thing is for certain, if Claire and Michelle are anything to go by, the stars will certainly look the part!

East Grinstead Sevens gets the Allstarzz treatment

The Kukri Allstarzz headed to East Grinstead for the week-end sevens event on Sunday and marked the occasion by wowing the crowds both on the pitch and off it, meeting everyone who came up to Mobi. The girls promoted the products whilst chatted the one and all, signing many a happy fans autograph book, t shirt and the odd arm as well!

The girls also raised £450 for wooden spoon by selling wrist bands and doing the draw for a wooden spoon t-shirt. Everyone paid a pound to enter the prize draw with Alex King signing a shirt to raise even more money!

The organisors then charmed our girls to performing before the final match, which brought huge cheers from the crowds around the pitch.

John Dewhurst of The Wooden Spoon passed his own thanks –

On behalf of the Wooden Spoon may I thank everyone at Kukri for their tireless support both 'on and off' the pitch at yesterday's East Grinstead RUFC ' Sunshine 7's'

The reports that I have received from Ian Braid who is the Surrey WS Chairman about Kukri (the company and the staff) are very complimentary- quote  'they really added value to the tournament and helped enourmously in raising the profile of Spoon - through displaying and selling a load of Spoon Merchandise'

I would be grateful if you would convey my thanks to Phil and the Kukri (Allstarzz) girls for their hard work in selling wrist bands and for promoting the WS.

Wec would also like to thank Kukri for providing rugby balls for the tournament and the winners (Army) with a free set of kit and the WS Rugby shirt signed byAlex King for the raffle. I am delighted that 'Mobi' was busy and that a lot of WS clothing was also sold. Excellent news.

Once again many thanks to everyone involved.

THE BRITISH ARMY

A brilliant weekend of Rugby and Fun, culminating in a final worthy of an international event. Appropriate since the event organisors had a had a World Cup ref!

The British Army , who played in the original Sevens were the well deserved winners. Every game they played in was a demonstration of Rugby Sevens skills and pure entertainement to watch. The standard of all the sides, and the quality of all the games watched, confirmed the East Grinstead Sunshine Sevens as the premiere charity Rugby Sevens event of the region.

The day and the weekend was marked by almost perfect weather for Sevens Rugby. Sunny, appropriately, but not so hot that it made play difficult, yet hot and sunny enough to bring out even those who are not familiar with Rugby, to watch and have a great day out,

Allstarzz add to the festival occasion at Bath University

Saturday saw the Kukri Allstarzz make yet another Super league appearance for Team Bath.

The crowd were treated to an amazing display of dance routines before during and after as Team Bath maintained their unbeaten record so far in this season's netball Superleague with a 60-29 home win against Brunel Hurricanes at the University of Bath Sports Training Village.

They now have just one league match to go against Team Northumbria on May 5th, before the play-offs start on May 26th..For the opening quarter today, Team Bath looked as if they might have a fight on their hands. A physical and up-tempo Hurricanes pulled back from1-3 and 4-6 down to lead 8-6 after eight minutes.

Hurricanes coach Denise Holland said her team had “done their homework on Team Bath” going into the fixture and but for two missed chances in the final minute the visitors might have lead going into the interval. Instead Team Bath moved to 11-10 up.
“I wasn't pleased with that first quarter”, admitted Team Bath's captain Billy Bowers after the match.  “We didn't start well and we weren't concentrating but, fortunately, we pulled it round from there on”

Emerging, young shooter Vicklyn Jones did much of the Hurricanes damage in the first 15 minutes so Team Bath coach Jan Crabtree made some changes in defence in the second quarter. “We needed some height in defence at that point and it's a tribute to the strength of our bench that we can make those kind of changes”, she said.

Young Team Bath talent Eboni Beckford-Chambers rose to the challenge and played well at goal-keeper alongside England defender Geva Mentor at GD whilst Bowers moved to wing-defence.

It wasn't until mid-way through the second quarter that Team Bath broke out from the tight-marking to surge ahead to 20-13 and, at half-time, by 26-17.  “Our confidence began to flow then”, said Bowers.

Natalie Seaton came on at wing-defence for the home-side in the third quarter to make some good interceptions and Crabtree, with her side leading by 45-26, chose to substitute her hard-working wing-attack and Vice-captain Tamsin Greenway at the start of the final quarter. Sasha Corbin was the replacement and immediately injected new pace in that position in the final quarter.

For Hurricanes, captain Sonia Mkloma, part of the England set-up, was a dominant presence and made life physically tough for Team Bath's England shooters, Pamela Cookey and Rachel Dunn. “Yes it was a tough game, we all know each other really well and we know our strengths and weaknesses”, said Mkloma after the match.

Team Bath now travel to play Team Northumbria away on Saturday May 5th and the defending champions' first play-off match will be at home on May 26th.  A win on May 26th would put Team Bath into the Grand Final on June 9th at Guildford 's Spectrum Arena.

The match took on greater significance for 3 members of the International Allstarzz – Delem, Kate and Louise who all made their debuts for the Allstarzz at Bath University .

Director of dance Donna Young said of the girls – “We have 9 new signings that have all come through an 8 week probationary period with flying colors. Im very proud of them all”

During their recent Hong Kong and Asia leg of the World Tour, with local appearances at Lang Kwai Fong, The Armani Club and Wanchai, the team went through a rigorous training session before setting out to the Hong Kong Football Club KPMG Dinner, hosted by Francois Pienaar - who captained and played flanker for the South African national rugby union team, the Springboks from 26 June 1993 until 10 August 1996. He won a total of 29 international caps. He is most famous for leading the Springboks to victory in the 1995 Rugby Union World Cup.

Francois was joined by ex England stars Jason Leonard and Phil Greening.

Jason Leonard OBE , English former rugby union prop who held the world record for international appearances for a national team until 2005, when it was surpassed by Australia's scrum-half George Gregan. He also held the record for total international appearances when his five caps with the British and Irish Lions were included until 17 June 2006, when it was surpassed by Gregan. Leonard has 123 caps - 118 for England - to Gregan's 127, all with Australia . As a player, Leonard won every one of international rugby's major accolades - Triple Crowns, Grand Slams and the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

His impressive career straddled the amateur and professional eras, playing for Barking, Saracens, and Harlequins. He was first capped in 1990 against Argentina , and played a record 118 times for England , and 24 times (including 5 caps) for the British and Irish Lions. Most commentators believe that his record is unlikely ever to be beaten by another prop. Acknowledged as one of the legends of English and International rugby, Leonard is a much loved face of the game by supporters and players alike.

Leonard was part of the England team that won the 2003 Rugby World Cup, coming on as a substitute in the final, adding what was regarded by many as a calming presence in the scrum. That was his fourth World Cup, and the second time he had appeared in the final, the first coming in 1991 when England lost to Australia .

He has made a rugby DVD called Jason Leonard's Big Hits.

He is involved in several charities, and is an honorary president for the Essex region of the Wooden Spoon Society, a charity for disadvantaged children and young persons.

Phil Greening, former English rugby union footballer. Greening finished his rugby career with the London Wasps in 2005. During his career he earned 24 caps for England , as well as going to Australia with the British and Irish Lions in 2001.

His rugby career started at his place of birth, Gloucester . After playing for the Sale Sharks, he joined the Wasps for the 2000 season. At the Wasps he enjoyed a great deal of success, which included a total of four club trophies that the team won during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.

He earned the first of his 24 caps for the English rugby team during 1998. He was subsequently included in the English squad that competed at the 1999 World Cup in Wales the following year. He was a part of the British and Irish Lions that toured Australia in 2001. He also captained the English rugby sevens team, as well as playing at the 2002-03 Hong Kong Sevens. Diary Continued - Hong Kong - The Final Day

Allstarzz play major role in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong 7's 07 was extra special for the members of The ALLSTARZZ International Dance team as it marked 12 months of hard work and building the finest Allstarzz team to date. Their reward – to play a significant part in the festival with on pitch performances and the honour of being invited to join the players on the infamous parade at the end of the tournament.

Samoa laid claim to their second title of the season as they beat Fiji 27-22 in a stunning performance in the Hong Kong 7's finale.

After a brilliant weekend of rugby, Samoa just blew Fiji away in the first half with an extraordinary display. Mikaele Pesamino's hat-trick helping his side to a 27-0 lead.

Fiji hit back with 22 points in the second half, but the damage was done.

Meanwhile England 's hopes of a fifth successive Hong Kong title were ended by a 26-0 quarter final loss to New Zealand .

Scotland also went out at the last eight stage with a brave display in a 28-7 defeat at the hands of finalists Fiji . But Wales held their own and staged a dramatic fightback to beat Argentina 26-19 in the Plate Final.

So Samoa's title victory takes them to joint second place, alongside New Zealand , in the overall standings just six points behind rivals Fiji .

Allstarzz Director Carl Bailey said – “The team this year have been quite exceptional, the finest and most professional team we have ever assembled. I am sure this leg of the tour will live in the memories of all of us and I look forward to the next 12 months with excitement watching this team grow and grow as the Worlds premier sports dance team.”

Throughout the week, the stars of The Allstarzz met with many famous faces, none more famous in the World of Rugby than Jonah Lomu pictures giving Hayley and Claire a helping hand.

Talk SPORT gets the ALLSTAR TREATMENT

What have Ian Wright, George Gallaway, Alan Brazil, Andy Townsend and The Kukri Allstarzz got jn common?

Answer, they all took part in Fridays TalkSport Breakfast v Drive Time 5 a side revenge game at Hatfields, London !

Although he'll admit this wasn't his best game, there was no doubting that Ian Wright's finishing was the different between the two sides as he led he charges to a 6-5 success over Breakfast.

The game was a thriller for the buzzing crowd gathered outside Hatfields and they were treated to a goal fest as Drive again just edged out their Breakfast counterparts in a game packed with action.

The Kukri Allstarzz, warmed the crowds up pre match and signed many an autograph before the action started.

Andy Townsend served notice for how the game was heading as straight from kick off his clever back heel found former Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland colleague Ray Houghton on the right, but the diminutive midfielder could only see his chip full anxiously wide of the post.

IAN WRIGHT, WRIGHT, WRIGHT

Wrighty then showed he meant business by blazing over and wide within a minute before his third chance presented itself all through his own ingenuity.

The former Arsenal star left two defenders on their backsides before rounding the wildly onrushing Patrick Kinghorn in the Breakfast goal and slotting home into an empty net.

However, the lead was short lived as Houghton dispossessed Rhodri Williams after a poor pass from Ian Danter and scuffed home with a terrible right foot shot to make it 1-1 with less than three minutes on the clock.

Breakfast captain and stalwart Alan Brazil was looking to banish the demons of last year when his penalty miss gifted Drive the game and he went someway to repaying the faith shown in him by boss Faye Carruthers by superbly nut-megging Macca to put his side 2-1 in front.

Rhodri Williams nearly put through his own net for Drive before a cleverly disguised pass from Brazil set up Houghton for his second chance of the game, but the ex-Liverpool defender failed to make the most of the opportunity.

You could sense the frustration growing on Wrighty as he started hitting shots from all over the park, as Beeky grew a great chance to put Breakfast 3-1 ahead when he missed an open goal after good work again from the busy Houghton.

Drive looked to have had all the energy drained from them and their frustration was highlighted by Adrian Durham's positively awful effort from 20-yards, which barely made it into the clutches of Kinghorn in the Breakfast goal.

Half-time provided arguably the best entertainment as the talk SPORTS Kukri Allstars went through their routine and then Mike Parry nearly broke his neck after missing a penalty shootout in a competition against a young boy.

Hilarious

The second half was less than two seconds old when George Galloway gifted Drive the perfect chance to claw their way back into the game as he wandered aimlessly into his own penalty box giving referee Keith Cooper no alternative but to point to the spot.

Alvin Martin, on as a substitute, coolly slotted home with all the aplomb you'd expect from an England international six yards from goal to make it 2-2.

Townsend restored Breakfast's lead on 11 minutes when he cut in from the right and released a shot from distance that Macca in the Drive goal fooled all ends up to make it 3-2.

'DIRTY'

Adrian ‘dirty' Durham got himself jotted down in the referee's notebook on 12 minutes as he pushed away the former Premiership whistle blower for pushing him.

He was joined in the referee's book a minute later by Breakfast subs The Moose who hacked away at all of Wrighty's limbs before eventually bringing him to ground and a minute later he was heading for an early shower as a ‘studs first' challenge on Jason Cundy saw Cooper brandish the red.

A superb one-two between Alvin and Ian Wright found the former in space to rifle home into the bottom right-hand corner to bring the scores level again before a humorous Rhodri Williams own goal saw Breakfast once again re-take the lead.

Townsend ran the length of the field with no-one on the Drive team seemingly interested in stopping him before PKH saved his left-footed effort with his feet. But his save rebounded into the eventually covering Williams, who inadvertadly put through his own net.

With Breakfast doing their best to hold on to their one-nil lead, Drive resulted to hit and hope efforts before former England front man took the game by the scruff of the neck to haul his side back into the match.

LOLLIPOP

His second goal came courtesy of a few lollipops any Brazilian would be proud of before slotting home in the bottom left hand corner and it was game on at 4-4.

Townsend again put Breako ahead after they worked the ball from right to left and Brazil blew a great chance to make it six but fired well over when the crowd expected better.

So the stage was set for Wrighty to complete his hat-trick as he scored a repeat of his goal minutes earlier by slotting home low to Kinghorn's left.

With the clock ticking down it was Breakfast who were forced on to the back foot as Drive piled forward looking for the winner, and it duly came from the cultured right foot of Alvin Martin, whose tame shot wormed its way past PKH to see Drive emerge victorious 6-5 after 20 minutes.

All that was left was for the victorious team to be presented with the trophy as The Kukri Allstarzz obliged with covering the victors with the customary fetti!

Stars from both teams signed Wooden Spoon shirts before retiring to the nearest bar or hospital, which ever was appropriate!
